Color

Our color system is comprised of a primary and secondary palette. The primary colors represent
elements in filmmaking and the iconic Oscar statue. The expansive secondary palette adds
expression and flexibility.

Our primary palette is inspired by light, the red carpet and the
Oscar statue itself. Below are the approved color values for each
color in the palette. Always use the correct color mode and ink

Content-Based Color

Our content-based palette permits flexibility and centers imagery
from what inspires us all: the movies themselves. There are two
methods for creating secondary content specific color: analogous
and/or complementary color palettes.

Secondary Color: Mobile: Encanto

Content-Based Color: Analogous

Analogous colors sit adjacent to one another on the color wheel,
such as yellow and orange. When used correctly, analogous color
combinations create harmonic expressions that easily translate to
even gradients of color.

Section: Analogous Color: Swingset

Step 1: Select a color from an image and
copy the hex code of the selected color.

Step 2: Paste your hex code into the
Academy Color Builder and select
analogous color. The Academy Color
Builder can be found at the bottom of
this section.

Section: Analogous Color: Swingset

Step 3: Copy the hex codes or
download the gradient palette from
the Academy Color Builder to use in
your brand application.

Color: Analogous Color: Spirited Away
Color: Analogous Color: Bohemian Rhapsody

Content-Based Color: Split Complementary

A split-complementary color scheme uses two colors across
the color wheel, with those two colors lying on either side of
the complementary color. This color scheme creates dynamic
combinations when using flat colors.

Colors: Split Complementary: Steps 1 - 2: Image: Dune

Step 2: Paste your hex code into the
Academy Color Builder and select split
complimentary color. The Academy Color
Tool can be found at the bottom of this section.
